Updated March 8th, 2021 by Paul DiSalvo: As a Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer crossover was recently announced, there are likely many new players interested in seeing what Warhammer 40,000 is all about. Luckily, there is a variant of Warhammer for those looking to dip their toes into the game, or those looking to play on a budget: Kill-Team. Kill-Team is a much smaller scope version of the game in which players control small teams of specialists rather than entire armies, and it features gameplay more reminiscent of Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics due to the manner in which individual units are controlled. For example, while a player could theoretically take three units out of a box of high-costed elites and call it a Kill Team, though this list would technically be legal to play, it likely wouldn’t allow a player to get the optimal Kill Team Experience. While there are many ways for a player to make a 100-point list out of a single box of models, not all of these approaches are as viable as others. However, with the scope of the game comes a notoriously hefty price tag.
Few table-top war games are as iconic as Warhammer 40,000. A game set within a grim, dark future in which there is only war, players are able to face each other using huge customizable armies.
